Mac Media Center Update

Hey so i created my Mac Media center 3 or more years ago and ditched cable. So what is my verdict 3 some years out.

Love it.

Sure initial expenses were high, but i knew I would pay off the cost of my mac with the savings from not having 100 bucks a month on cable. Math gets trickier when you add in Hard Drives, New Ram, or that Internet Access tends to go up when not bundled. However I definitely have a lower overhead and have saved a bundle.

FIOS - I got FIOS last year, and i love it. 50 bucks a month for Internet is actually cheaper then what i was paying for Comcast (65 or so) and it is super fast. Actually i really feel it with upload speed but downloads are faster too.

Ease of use: Easy. The only hard thing is explaining it too people when they come to visit.

Day to Day Hassle: I do spend time on the setup, because I am anal. I am tweaking it too often to try and fix the things I don't love, however if i left it alone for a year everything would still work the way I want, so it's kind off my own fault.

Is it for most people? probably not yet. But definitely for a bunch of different types: cheapskates (in a good way), minimizer's who want less devices, and techies.

I'll go my current setup another post, but this is a little overview thang....
